Bedtime prayer

Lillian Kampororo

I pray when I wake up tomorrow,
The sun will rise, and so will I.
The birds will sing, and so will my spirit.
The morning glory will bloom,

And so will my heart.
The dew will dry and so will my tears.

I pray when I wake up tomorrow,
It will be a brand new day,

Complete with a brand new memory,

And a neck that won't let me look back.
There will be a long, inviting road ahead.

I pray when I wake up tomorrow,
I will have my way and make things happen.
I will open my eyes to a fresh start:

And you my dear,

Will be a proud citizen of the furthest planet,

To be seen only as the furthest, tiniest, twinkling star.
